The people behind Gorilla Cyber Security

Experienced, credentialed and genuinely New Zealand-based.

Stephen Phillips, Chief Information Security Officer at Gorilla Cyber Security

Stephen Phillips

Chief Information Security Officer

Stephen leads Gorilla Cyber Security’s practice with more than 20 years of experience, including a previous role as Chief Information Security Officer at Westpac NZ. He oversees our audits and brings senior, board-level security leadership to organisations that aren’t at the size for a full-time CISO — straightforward advice, clearly explained, from someone who’s seen what actually goes wrong. It’s the expertise behind our virtual CISO service.

Paul Spain, Chief Executive and Futurist of Gorilla Cyber Security

Paul Spain

Chief Executive & Futurist

Paul founded Gorilla in Auckland in 1997, on the belief that the right technology, thoughtfully protected, makes for a much better day at work — a belief that still shapes the company today. A well-known technology commentator and futurist, he hosts the NZ Tech Podcast and NZ Business Podcast and appears regularly across RNZ, TVNZ, Newstalk ZB and the NZ Herald. He keeps Gorilla focused on helping NZ organisations succeed with technology while managing its risks.
